RE-ISSUES OF 3 CLASSIC DARK FUNERAL
ALBUMS. RE-MASTERED WITH RARE BONUS MATERIAL! |
July 31th,
2007 |
|
|
|
TRENTON, N.J. – Three re-mastered releases from the catalog of Swedish
black metal masters Dark Funeral - "The Secrets of the Black Arts,"
"Vobiscum Satanas," and "Diabolis Interium" - will be reissued with
bonus material July 31 by Regain Records.
"I've always been proud of each release we have put out and I still
am," said frontman Lord Ahriman. "Considering the fact that these
albums more or less have been out of print for the past few years, I'm
really glad we've finally been able to bring them back to the record
shelves. It's also great to be able to offer, especially to our newer
fans, re-mastered versions of these albums. Ever since the beginning
we have stayed true to the core of our music. So what these albums
offer musically is what would become what we play today."
"The Secrets of the Black Arts," the group's 1996 debut
full-length, will include a bonus CD containing the previously
unreleased and now-legendary Uni-Sound recording from January 15-21,
1995. "This recording is surely a valuable history of the band," said
Ahriman. "I'm glad that we've managed to bring life into a recording I
honestly thought would be lost forever! Thanks to today's studio
technology, we managed to transfer the original analogue tracks into
digital tracks, and from there digitally re-mix and master it for
optimal sound quality. The result is killer, yet suits the era of time
it originally was recorded."
"Vobiscum Satanas," originally released in 1998, will be augmented
with live versions of four of the album's tracks, recorded at the
Hultsfreds Festival in Sweden in June of the same year. Released in
2001, "Diabolis Interium" is the most recent of the reissues and
contains four additional tracks of Dark Funeral covering songs by
perennial dark metal favorites King Diamond, Slayer, Sodom, and
Mayhem.
Dark Funeral will embark on a month-long US tour beginning October
9. "We can't wait!" Ahriman said. "We have always had a blast when
we've played the US, but the most recent tour we did was also the most
amazing US tour we've done so far! The venues we played were great,
loads of people came out to the shows, and their response was
phenomenal. I'm sure the next tour will be even better, at least from
our side!"
The tour will be the first for the band with its recently-announced
new drummer, Dominator, who made his live debut with the band at the
Hellraiser Open Air and Rock Hard festivals.
"It feels just great," said Ahriman. "Sometimes you need to bring
in new blood into a band to get that extra energy kick yourself. And
that's exactly what we all got when we started to rehearse with
Dominator."

DARK FUNERAL RECRUIT NEW DRUMMER
!!! |
June 10th,
2007 |
|
|
|
Ave! I guess by now most of you, if not all,
have realised that Matte Modin is no longer in the band. I won’t go
into any details as why at this point, but I guess if you read the [statement]
Caligula made a couple of weeks ago it should be quite obvious...
Anyway, we have for the past few weeks
been busy rehearsing with a new AMAZING drummer. And all I can say is
WOW! He totally nails the songs exactly as they are played on the
albums, with every single hit on the snare, kick, cymbals, etc, just a
little bit better. Might sound a bit weird to you, but now with a new
maniac behind the kit one realise that a lot of things have actually
been missing from the drum department when we’ve played the songs
live. Not anymore though. And I’m sure things will just get better.
With a new drummer onboard we have also
come to realise another important thing. And that is how much we have
destroyed some of our songs when we have performed them live. Nothing
wrong with hyper speed, but apparently we have been blinded by the
speed factor and brought it to a level where it, unfortunately, have
ruined the genuine atmosphere, the melodies, and the heaviness of the
songs. Now that’s in the past. With the new drummer we play the songs
in perfect harmony with the speed (perhaps a little bit faster than on
the records, but now with total control) and it sounds phenomenal!!!
Anyway, our new drummer actually made
his live debut with us in Germany a couple of weeks ago (Hellraiser
Open Air & Rock Hard Festival). And considering the very short time we
had to rehearse with him before these shows, it went pretty damn fine
I must say.
Now I guess you’re curious to know who
the new guy is, right!? Well, I won’t hold your breath any longer.
Let’s raise the horns high and welcome Nils Fjellström
(Aeon/Sanctification/In Battle etc) to DARK FUNERAL! Since this guy totally
dominate on drums, he will from now on go under the pseudonym
“Dominator”.
Dominator comment; "I am deeply
honoured to play the music of Dark Funeral and inspired by the
challenge! I would like to thank Lord Ahriman, Emperor Magus Caligula,
Chaq Mol and B-Force for their confidence in me!" Now I can’t wait to
hit the road and eventually start working on new material with the
band! See you on the road!

DIABOLISWEAR
- DARK
FUNERAL´S OFFICIAL
WEBSTORE... |
April 13th, 2007 |
|
|
|
Ave!
I guess many of you have wondered what the hell happened with the
announced October the 13th launce of our webstore. Well, obviously the
name we originally had planned for the webstore/clothing-line
“Diabolicwear” was too similar to another brand. So we have been
forced to change the name. Unfortunately the whole process to change,
register and finally get the new name approved has taken an extremely
long time. And I can assure you that it has been as frustrating for us
as it probably has for you.
However, finally we have got the new name approved….
DIABOLISWEAR
Yeah, I know. The difference from the original name is perhaps not
that big, but that’s obviously how things work. You just change a
letter or two and suddenly it’s all fine. The new name is perhaps even
more connected to Dark Funeral than the first one, as it is based on
our 2001 album “Diabolis Interium”.
Anyway, we’re currently double checking all the codes etc for the
webstore so that no mistakes have been made with that. We want
everything to run smoothly when it finally open. If everything now
goes as planned we should be ready to open DIABOLISWEAR within
the next couple of weeks.
Make sure to bookmark
www.diaboliswear.com already now, sign up to our DIABOLISWEAR
newsletter. And be among the first people to be informed about the
grand opening of DIABOLISWEAR!
Due to the name change we have also opened up a new MySpace site

DARK FUNERAL SECURE
UP-COMING TOURS AND LAND NEW ENDORSEMENTS |
Dec 22, 2006 |
|
As the saying goes, when it rains, it pours.
Here in the Dark Funeral camp, the wrath that usually pours down on
us, is bad luck, however the tides seem to have turned, and for once,
we are graced with good luck, and in turn, good news!
Since the unfortunate incident in [xxx] we have been working real
hard to arrange new gear so we can get back on the road. Since we're
obviously not a rich band, to lose all of our gear has been a huge,
huge setback for us in many ways, and it would take forever for us to
save up money to afford to buy a whole new backline as anyone might
understand. With so many tours, festival shows etc. already confirmed,
it's been a real nightmare for us to not know whether we'll be able to
pull them all off or not. We realise that this has been a big concern
to many of our fans as well.
Finally we can all relax! And all thanks to BC Rich, Randall
Amplifiers, Seymour Duncan, Pearl Drums and EBS, who has been truly
helpful and also offered us their endorsements.
On Dec 19th Chaq Mol and I signed an exclusive endorsement deal
with RANDALL AMPLIFIERS (USA). We
have decided to play their V2 head along with their R412XLT cabinet,
which suit our sound perfect. It will also improve our live sound a
lot.
www.randallamplifiers.com
We have also landed an endorsement deal with
BC RICH GUITARS (USA). And have decided to play their
new NT neck-thru series (Guitars/Bass). Foremost, we plan to use the
NT guitars live. And eventually order US custom guitars for studio
use. This is also a major improvement for us in many ways.
www.bcrich.com
Since we're already endorsed by SEYMOUR
DUNCAN we have equipped the new guitars with their LW-HMET &
LW-CH humbuckers, which boost impressively with two 9V batteries!
That's what I call METAL!
www.seymourduncan.com
Matte is endorsed by PEARL DRUMS.
They will provide a kit for our upcoming tour throughout North
America. He also uses, and is endorsed by Turkish Cymbals and Wincent
drumstick.
www.pearldrum.com,
www.wincent.se,
www.turkishcymbals.com
B-Force has landed an endorsement deal with
EBS and will play their EBS-TD650 head along with their
EBS-410 evolution line cabinet. He will also use EBS bass strings.
www.ebs.bass.se
Unfortunately we haven't been able to sort new wireless systems
yet, but we're working on that as we speak.
We would like to send out a massive hail to everyone at BC Rich,
Randall, Seymour Duncan, Pearl Drums, EBS and Luthman [www.luthman.se].
You rule!
We can't wait to hit the stage and to meet all of you crazy
Metallers again!
First show with the new gear will be on January 9th at the Jaxx
Nite Club, Springfield VA. See you there!

GEAR STILL UN-RETURNED. LATVIA & LITHUANIA SHOWS POSPONED! |
Oct 18, 2006 |
|
There’s now over a week since all of our
gear (guitars, bass, wireless systems, cymbals etc) was confiscated by
the police in Peru. And we still have not received any news if or when
it will be returned to us. At this point of time one can only
speculate, but things doesn’t look good though.
There’s not easy for us to say this, believe
me, but due to the current situation we are unfortunately forced to
“postpone” our up-coming shows in Latvia and Lithuania. We can, as
anyone might understand, not afford to buy a whole new backline just
like that, and/or in time for these 2 shows, which are scheduled this
coming weekend already.
We understand this will leave a lot of you
people disappointed, including the local promoters, but we sure hope
to have this literally fucked up situation sorted out real soon, and
new dates scheduled and announced to you shortly.

DARK FUNERAL
COMMENT ON PERU INCIDENT |
Oct 13, 2006 |
|
Finally back home again after a killer tour
in Latin America, except for the somewhat chaotic ending in Peru. I
guess it's about time to set the record straight and explain what
really happened there…
After a killer show in Santiago (Chile),
Caligula started to feel sick. And to tell you the truth, it's a real
miracle that no one else in the band got sick during this tour.
Travel-wise it was the hardest tour in our career. Late shows and very
early flights every fucking day, which left us with not more than 1-2
hours sleep per night. Sure, that kind of schedule works a couple of
days, or perhaps a week, but after 2+ weeks - one is pretty much a
wreck. Despite of this, we still managed to give 110% at every show,
except for the last one in Peru, which of course suck as much for us
as for the fans.
Anyway, shortly after the Santiago show, and during the flight over
to Peru, Caligula started to feel really sick. And by the time we
arrived at the airport in Peru he had high fever and had completely
lost his voice. So the very first thing we did when we met up with the
local promoter was to ask for a doctor, which was arranged very
quickly. Our hope was of course that Caligula would get some medicine
so he could at least get back his voice and be able to pull off that
one last show. Unfortunately his condition was much worse than what we
expected it to be. The doctor literally said that it was of biggest
importance that he did not sing during the next 14 days. If he did, he
would take a serious risk to get severe problems with his voice in the
future. And if someone really believes that he wanted to take that
chance and sing that night, you got to be really fucking stupid. At
this point we told the Peruvian promoter that we would unfortunately
be forced to cancel the show, but that we were ready to do whatever we
could from our side to at least give the fans something. I mean, we
were, after all, in the country and everyone but Caligula was feeling
ok, except for the fact that we were all very fucking tired. The
Peruvian promoter said he would not accept any other solution other
than that we played. He said if we didn't play, with or without
Caligula, all hell would break loose. Well, as we all now know it
happened anyway. Normally, if one of us get sick on tour and can't
perform - we cancel. But trust me, it will take a lot before we go as
far as cancelling a show. After a long discussion between the band,
the tour manager and the local promoter, who literally were begging us
to play with or without Caligula, we decided that it would indeed be
the best for everyone, including the fans, that we played after all,
and that would have to be without Caligula, who at this point of time
couldn't get a word out of his mouth.
Before we went on stage that night I tried to get someone from the
venue, who spoke Spanish, to explain the situation to the crowd, but
they said it would be for the best if the information came straight
from the band, that the crowd would respect the band's own words more
than if some local guy tried to explain things to them. Fair enough.
My/our concern with this was that none of us speak Spanish. And also,
we obviously had the feeling that the people would not understand when
I/we spoke to them in English. We pointed out the importance of this
several times, that we really wanted someone to explain the situation
in Spanish, but every time we were told " -Hey don't worry, people
understand English very well over here. And they will for sure
understand what you're saying". How fucking wrong was that!?
When we were on stage we all got the feeling that this riot was
pre-planned. And that it would have occurred even if we played at full
force WITH Caligula. And since I now know for a fact that this was not
the first time a riot like this occurred when a European metal band
plays Peru, we're all 110% convinced that the riot would have happened
anyway.
Now, afterwards, it's of course easy to say that the decision we
took that night might not have been the wisest thing we've done. But
anyone who knows us, know that we really did it for the fans, and of
course after the local promoter's strong recommendation to do so. But
apparently the Peruvian crowd didn't get it. The only other option
would have been to cancel the show completely, but would that have
made things better? Would it have stopped the riot from happening?
Hell fucking no! So either way you put it, we did all what we could to
save an already fucked up situation.
We obviously did not travel all the way to Peru for fun. We were on
tour and we were on tour to give our fans an unforgettable show. But
in the end of the day we are humans and not machines, like some people
obviously believe, and we can get sick just like anyone else.
After the show most of our gear was confiscated by the police
(guitars, bass, wireless systems, cymbals etc). And if we don't get it
back in the very near future all of our upcoming shows is in jeopardy.
We can obviously not afford to buy a whole new backline as anyone
might understand. We are however doing everything in our power to have
the gear returned to us ASAP.
And for those Peruvians who are still crying out loud: We have been
told that the local promotor is currently giving away free CD's to the
crowd who attended the show, to show them his and our respect.
We have also seen that someone from the organization have made a
short statement about their arrangements for us, saying how well they
had arranged everything, with a 4 star hotel, killer food among many
other things. Well, the truth is that the hotel we stayed at could not
have had more than 1-2 stars if any. The rooms were small, without hot
water, without proper electricity and on top of that we were served
cold food that had been laying on a table a whole fucking day. And
having Dismember in mind, knowing how fucking sick they got by the
Peruvian food when they played there, guess what? We didn't eat
anything during our whole stay in Peru.
Enough of fucking lies please…
Other than that we would like to send out a massive hail to all you
people who came out to the shows during this tour. You people were
incredible! And you once again showed us that the Latin American Metal
scene is one of the very fucking best in the world! See you next
time!!! A second statement, including one from our tour manager will
follow shortly…

COSTA RICA SHOW CANCELLED! |
Aug 22, 2006 |
|
It just came to our attention that our
scheduled show in Costa Rica on October the 3rd is cancelled.
Apparently this is a result by the local promotor’s refusal to share
our flight costs with the other promoters, which is total bollocks if
you ask me. We were totally looking forward to play Costa Rica during
this forth coming Latin American tour, but unfortunately it won’t
happen. We understand that this cancellation will leave A LOT of you
people very disappointed. And trust me, we all wish there were
something we could do to change the situation, but we can’t. We do
however hope that there will be another chance for us to play Costa
Rica in a not too distant future.

After the enormously successful tour in 2003, which resulted in the
highly acclaimed live album “De Profundis Clamavi Ad Te Domine”, Dark
Funeral is once again ready to embark on tour throughout Latin
America. This time the band will bring their full stage show (same as
in Europe plus some nice surprises). Last time the band toured Latin
America they played Brazil, Chile & Colombia. This time the band will
also hit Argentina, Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Ecuador,
among others.
Dark Funeral guitarist/founding member Lord Ahriman says, “With our
last Latin American tour (September 2003) still fresh in my mind, I
know that this coming tour for sure will be the highlight for us this
year (2006), or perhaps in a long time, who knows!? I guess we will
have to leave that up to you people elsewhere to prove me wrong as
soon as we’ll hit your town…..fair enough!?
Last time we toured Latin America (Brazil, Chile & Colombia) we
were completely overwhelmed and for sure taken by surprise by the
totally energetic and supportive crowd. You people ruled supreme! And
made us completely speechless! You also showed us that the Latin
American METAL scene is one of the very fucking best in the world! So
a big fucking HAIL to all of you who came out to those shows!
We have waited for this moment, to return, since the day we board
the plane in Bogotá (Colombia) on September 15th, 2003. And returned
back home to Sweden. Finally it will become a reality. I can’t express
in words how much we are looking forward to this tour. And we are
totally looking forward to play all these new countries that we have
never played before (Argentina, Peru, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Ecuador
among others). I’m sure it will be an unforgettable experience indeed!
Can’t fucken wait...
This time we are more prepared than we was back in 2003. So I can
assure you, that we have planned, and will give you a far superior
show this time around. So raise those Metal Horns high. And we’ll see
you in September/October!!!”
PS. This time we will also have some killer merchandise for sale
(T-Shirts, CD´s etc), something that we never managed to work out
properly in 2003.
ESPANOLA
Lord Ahriman, guitarrista y miembro fundador comenta: “Con nuestro
shows!.
un show superior!!.
tocou no Brasil, Chile e Colômbia. Desta vez, a banda irá passar
Rica e Venezuela.
O membro fundador e guitarrista do DARK FUNERAL, o Lord Ahriman diz
“Como a nossa última turnê (Setembro 2003) ainda continua viva em
todas nossas mentes, eu sei que esta nova turnê será o ponto alto
deste ano (de 2006), ou talvez durante um bom tempo, quem sabe? Vou
deixar isso com vocês e espero que nós tenhamos agradáveis surpresas”.
Durante a nossa última turnê por estes lados, fomos surpreendidos
positivamente com a energia, apoio e recepção do público Latino
Americano com a banda. Todos vocês nos deixaram completamente sem
fala!

IT'S OFFICIAL: DARK
FUNERAL & ENSLAVED TO TOUR NORTH AMERICA EARLY 2007 |
July 31th, 2006 |
|
Ave!
Just returned from Spain, where we played
Metalway Festival together with Testament, Ministry, Metal Church and
Celtic Frost among others. How fucking awesome line-up wasn’t that!?
Getting to see Testament and Ministry completely shredding the stage
that night, playing such a killer setlists, with pretty much all the
classics, was completely fucking awesome I must say. Felt kind of
weird to play during the daylight though (5-6pm), but it all turned
out pretty cool and the crowd was amazing. Next weekend we’ll play
Metal Dayz Festival in Switzerland. It should be a blast too!
Since we announced the first European tour
dates for our latest album, 'Attera Totus Sanctus', earlier this year,
there has been a constant and completely overwhelming flow of mails
from the U.S. and Canada asking when the hell we will tour North
America. Well finally dates are being booked!
Unfortunately I don’t have many details on
this tour yet, support bands, routing etc, but it’ll at least be a co
headlining tour with Enslaved (NO). The tour is planned to kick off
early January 2007. Last time we toured the US, supporting Cannibal
Corpse in 2002, we had a blast. Everyone we met during that tour was
really cool. The crowd was totally awesome. It'll be killer to finally
return overseas! I have the feeling that this is going to be one hell
of a tour and we hope see you in January!
Dates and ticket on sale information for
Candlelight II: Phoenix Rising will be announced shortly. Visit the
label's official website for further news and tour information. For
more information contact Dave Brenner (earsplitpr@aol.com) or Paula
Hogan (paula@candlelightrecordsusa.com).
Next up live-wise, and besides the Metal
Dayz Festival we will hit South America in September/October. And
apparently there’s been a slightly change, date-wise and in the
routing, from what was originally announced. Here’s however the very
latest update on the tour schedule that have reached us…[tourdates]

POLISH SHOWS CANCELLED DUE TO THE PRESENT POLITICAL
SITUATION IN POLAND |
2006-02-11 |
|
"We are sorry to inform that DARK
FUNERAL, NAGLFAR, AMORAL & ASMODEUS gigs in Łódź and Katowice
have been cancelled. Massive Music would like to apologize for
all inconveniences caused to Dragon Productions and the bands.
The cancellation is beyond our control, we are entirely
helpless in the face of the present political situation in
Poland. "
Mariusz Kmiolek/Massive Music POLAND
"We understand this has really nothing to do with Dark Funeral
alone as a band, but by a musical scene the Polish Catholics
obviously wish to forbid. To us this is just another proof of
the hypocrisy that lies behind organised religions. They
happily promote tolerance, yet, as soon as they see something
they dislike, they are fast as a shark to call for censorship.
The thing is, reactions like this will most certainly give the
opposite result, it always does! We would however like to
apologize for all inconveniences this has and will cause our
Polish fans, but this is unfortunately beyond our control"
